| Introduction | Welcome to my spot to share my experiences with the garden, with cooking, and other aspects of life. I’m not a big fan of these kinds of blurbs that ask you to express yourself, your life and your interests in such a small space. I tend towards rambling. That helps to explain my love for large perennial and rose gardens, I think. My newest hobby is my heirloom vegetable garden. I am also the "chef" of the house, and I’m trying to find ways to grow a lot of what we eat during the summer (organic and sustainable).
Our ground is very clay-like and dries to almost impenetrable rock - it takes a lot of manure, a lot of mulch and a lot of effort to garden in the hottest months of the summer! Our USDA Hardiness Zone is 5b. I have an eclectic gardening style and I’m constantly moving flowers around. |
| Interests | Gardening, cooking, quilting, soccer, history and mythology, sleeping, reading, music, movies. I am a coffee addict. I love soccer, catnaps and other goodies. I am also learning how to quilt. I drink red wine and whisky. I love history and mythology, which also helps to explain where the interest for Old Garden Roses (antiques) and Heirloom vegetables comes from. I love large sweeping perennial gardens in the old English tradition, and only hope that one day I can come close to replicating that feeling in my own garden. |
| Favorite movies | WAY too many to list, and the list is constantly changing. I'm a bit of a movie buff. I don't much like horror flicks though, not my style. |
