| Introduction | I have done a lot of fundraisers in my life but this takes the cake. I was educated in Toronto more years ago than I care to remember, and after a couple of jobs for several years I started and co-partnered a small computer firm in Toronto for another 22 years (85 employees at its peak) before finally packing it in. Since then I have never looked back. For a short time I marketed and sold geothermal systems but never seemed to have enough time to do what I really wanted to do with it. While I was doing that I sat on various boards and committees in Port Hope, Ontario and have raised money, and either volunteered for or ran events to raise money for cancer research, breast cancer research, Breakfast for Learning, Casey House in Toronto, the Capitol Arts Centre in Port Hope, the Skatepark Committee and various other causes. In the last five years, we probably raised just shy of $2 Million. I do travel a lot but my interest has peaked at knowing that I can really help the people of the poorest villages of Laos. If you have read my blog, you will know that I must be a little crazy...so be it. |
