About me

Occupation mother, writer and professional porch sitter
Location Kentucky, y'all
Introduction I was the child who kept company with Shelly and Fred, the "nice" monsters who appeared when I circled my neighbor's tree three times. I also adhered shiny, silver gum wrappers to my teeth as makeshift braces (that doesn't work, by the way). My bike was not a Schwinn with a banana seat, but a deer called White Lightning, and the tree behind our house actually was a diplodocus dinosaur. With all my heart, I believed I could venture to Narnia if I only tried hard enough, so I camped in my sister's closet for hours. (I can't tell you if I ever reached Narnia; that's between Mr. Tumnus and me.) I wrote my first novel at 10, with a protagonist as sophisticated as her name: Lauren Cashmere. In spite of all this, my parents never placed me in therapy. Perhaps that's why I continue to write, explore and play. From my front porch swing, I still see a world ripe with wonder and magic - if you only know where to look.
