Introduction I love Jesus, I love music, I love travelling, I love life, I love the people God has blessed me with the privilege of calling family and friends, I love the qualities of sincerity, honesty in people and an ability not to take yourself too seriously because I do that enough for two people. 'I was just thinking...' started off as a place for me to offload random thoughts. It still serves that purpose but more recently reviews, interviews and other features have become an integral part of that randomness. If you're passing through and have something to feedback feel free to comment or if you prefer to be discrete drop me an email (link below the profile pic).
Interests Music, literature, theatre travel, writing articles, stories, poems, language, waxing lyrical, going to decent live gigs.
Favorite Movies Some of these are favourites, others just left a strong impression on me. City of God, La Haine, Mon Meilleur Ami, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Passion of the Christ, Doubt, An Education, 500 Days of Summer, Anchorman, Edward Scissorhands, The Master...those will do for now.
Favorite Music I tend to like artists these days more than specific genres although I am partial to jazz, soul and most things made in the 80s! Artists I love/admire/influence/inspire me... Tonéx and Nureau Ink delegates(of course), Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, The Carpenters, Sam Cooke (possibly the greatest male vocalist) Beach Boys, Paul Simon/Garfunkel, Kate Bush, Earth Wind and Fire, Randy Crawford, Lisa McClendon, Deitrick Haddon, Whitney Houston (vocals), Chaka Khan, Maxwell (beauty AND vocals :-) Yolanda Adams (vocals), Michael Jackson (especially late 70s/early 80s top of vocal game), Karyn Clarke (vocals) new kids like Sunny Hawkins (vocals) and Choklate, Commissioned, Sade (that's my girl!), Alex O'Neal (80s kudos), Tommy Sims, Steely Dan/Donald Fagen, Timbaland, En Vogue, Boyz 2 Men, George Benson, Sting (80s early 90's kudos), Peter Gabriel (kudos for 'Games without frontiers' alone), Nik Kershaw (highly underrated) a lil' Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, kudos to ABBA (believe it, chords and vocal arrangements so complex they make you weep), Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Michael Bublé, Rod Temperton, Nina Simone, Frank McComb, The Innocence Mission, Nat King Cole, Airto Edmundo, Teddy Riley and the New Jack Swing, J Dilla, Jam and Lewis, Seu Jorge, Esperanza Spalding, Jarrod Lawson, Mayer Hawthorne, Haim, Kimbra... Amazing Europe-based acts such as Yukimi Nagano/Little Dragon, Jessie Ware, Benny Sings, Roos Jonker, Marie Dahlstrom, New School UK pioneers like Abimaro, Eric Lau, Sarina Leah, Rahel, ... The list is ever growing...
