| Introduction | Born in Norwalk,CT.I grew up just a few blocks from the Harbor. As a young boy in the late 50's I would catch winter flounder with my Mother, using drop lines from one the old docks off Water Street, we caught our own bait, catching nightcrawlers in our yard after dark. South Norwalk back then also had a number of fields and I was out daily discovering the wildlife of those fields. Most notable were the number of Garter Snakes, I would fill a box with my collection of snakes from the day, some were pretty big and yes I got bit every once and a while, but at the end of the day all the snakes were released unharmed. Fast forward a half century, I'm still in love with nature,and the Norwalk Islands in particular, from it's nor'easters; to it's most picturesque sunrises; sunsets, and full moon glowing over it's water. It's Birds; migrating through this area and sometimes even a few thousand nesting in the island chain. From Harbor Seals surviving in the harshest of our winter months to White-tail deer starving to death during this same time. This is just a small part of nature's events that I will reflect on for you to see. |
