IntroductionEvery now and then when I study some topic in software engineering I learn a new concept like concurrency or recursion that causes me to break into oohs and ahhs. That's because I recognize how immediately such a new topic can raise the trajectory of my thinking and my work. Lately that joy is due to the discovery and use of Test Driven Development. I love how its simplicity and power can provide me with so much more confidence in the quality of my work. I subscribe to Test Driven Development's Red-Green-Refactor process because I've seen that it leads to the development of bulletproof methods and better design.
InterestsI am an avid hiker, as evidenced by the goal I reached this past January of 2021 of 50,000 miles in the last 12-1/2 years. I also recently hiked 73 miles in one 24-hour period, and finished in 3rd place in the Seattle Marathon's walking division. I've been learning the acoustic guitar over the last three or four years practicing Yes songs like "Clap" and "Mood for a Day" as well as Fur Elise and Pachabel's Canon in D. I've also been working on "The Last Steam Engine Train" from Leo Kotke, and I finger pick a pleasant Chet Atkins version of Lady Madonna.
