| Introduction | I am a prisoner's wife. But I am also so much more. I am a Christian, a mother, an engineer, a Delta, a writer, a reader, and a friend. I could go on and on. On April 24, 2006 my life changed immeasurably. My then four year old daughter and I drove my then husband of five years to a federal prison and left him there. Now, nearly five years later, we are still adjusting to his absence and trying to heal from the hurt of his incarceration. What has gotten me through these past years is my faith in God, commitment to my vows, love for my husband, the love and support I’ve received from family and friends, and my determination to keep my family together. This is my story. It's told in my words, in hopes of educating those who know little to nothing about the US prison system and providing comfort and support to others who share a similar pain and misery associated with having a loved one in prison. |
