Introduction	The picture is of one of my mothers, Gertie. I have just published a book written from a child's point of view about growing up fatherless with two loving mothers, amid secrecy and confusion. It's called Things My MotherS Never Told Me. I read social anthropology at Cambridge and only years later discovered a passion for art, especially by living artists. I live on a co-operative housing estate on a road streaming south of one of London’s most famous bridges and can walk across any one of another seven to reach hundreds of galleries.
