| Introduction | The "end of everything" mentality my father had around forced retirement at 65 left him without a purpose, plan or place to go. I saw him devolve from a vibrant, engaged professional and social man about town to a withered, withdrawn shell of himself who left this world just 5 years later. I made a mental note that that would never be me. A Baby Boomer myself, I "retired" at 51 because, as a single mom at 49, I had adopted two infants at birth...talk about blazing retirement trails not on Dad's path.
