Introduction The inspiration for my work is drawn from the immediate world around me, nature in all its forms features most predominantly. I believe the most beautiful aspects of nature are in the details. I have particular interest in the veins of leaves and flowers, and the stunning array of textures that occur everywhere. My work often begins with the collection of found objects and lots of photographs I have taken whilst walking in natural surroundings. I am also interested in the relationship between perfection and imperfections. The repetition of similar shapes appears in nature frequently and the variations of these shapes are often viewed as imperfections. I believe preciousness lies in the differences and individuality of every leaf, twig and rock. My fascination with nature and its attributes influences the way I work with materials. When working with metal, each piece is hand-cut and formed to ensure that the variations and individuality are retained. I try to incorporate and accept accidents into the overall intention of the pieces.
