Introduction Ruth and Tim love to cook, eat, and enjoy wine. Ruth is a vegetarian. Tim is a carnivore. We try to eat: • Economically, making use of local ethnic markets, Costco, Trader Joe’s, and weekly supermarket specials. • Simply, using a minimum of processed food, for reasons of budgeting, health, and flavor. • Flavorfully, making liberal use of spices and homegrown herbs. • Healthily, with fresh ingredients and little meat, because one of us is a vegetarian and we both have to watch our cholesterol. • Locally, when produce is in season. • Adventurously, trying out oddball ingredients and recipes and never hesitating to experiment on our friends.
