| Introduction | My Background My name is Rodney Swan. I have been a collector and enthusiast in fine art prints and livres d’artistes and have learnt art through my private research when buying art, visiting galleries and auctions and taking some occasional art courses. I specialise in the 20th century European masters. I have no formal art qualifications. However, I have a Hons Degree and a Masters Degree both from British Universities and have worked for more years than I care to remember. In the past 15 years, I have owned and run a very profitable company working with the private sector on major NSW infrastructure and public projects pretty much lobbying NSW Government. I now have the great opportunity to learn a bit about what I collect – in a more structured way. The MArtAdmin at COFA is my first formal art course. I studied the full range of print making under Michael Kempson. My theoretical art knowledge was driven by Alan Krell and I have received much advice from Joanna Mendelssohn. I am currently examining the option of a further higher level research degree in livres d’artistes. |
