| Introduction | This blog is dedicated to my mom, Margaret Ann, who is in a memory care facility on lock down due to the COVID-19 virus. We have not been apart this long since she moved here after her Alzheimer's diagnosis almost 4.5 yrs ago. The facility did the right thing by shutting its doors to visitors when the COVID-19 virus took the lives of many elders at a nursing home in Kirkland, WA. I miss my mom. I miss not being able to reassure her that I will again be by her side. Touch is so important in this phase of her disease and I'm not able to give that to her now. This blog will contain and compile letters to her as I process my lack of control and future uncertainty, but also prospect of hope and healing. I want to be able to read the entries to her to let her know I never stop thinking about her. I give credit to a counselor via The Alzheimer's Association for giving me the idea to create something to let my mom know how I was doing while this was occurring, but mainly so I can tell her how much I miss her everyday. |
