| Introduction | My mom, JoJo, grew up in a NYC orphanage. She was never hugged and never heard anyone say, 'I love you.' Yet, this remarkable lady evolved into a loving, compassionate woman I have always called My Social Vigilante. My Mom did not just stick up for me; JoJo stuck up for every stranger she encountered in a jam. JoJo will defend a harried store clerk against a rude, bully of a customer, or our Constitutional rights in a heated debate. How did she come to be this extraordinary person who consistently 'walks the walk' when she was raised in a cold, often brutal environment without having had any example to follow? Her gracious intervention has inspired me to try and be a better person. JoJo believes that humans can discern decency from dissolute behavior. The greatest lesson my mother has tried to teach me through example was to get involved and speak up if something is wrong. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but every day I try to emulate her behavior. |
