| Introduction | "When I first came to Lowell in early 2007 I was ready for a turnaround. I wanted a job in organic farming. When I went to the Community Gardens Greenhouse Earth Day event I met Derek at the UTEC booth. When he explained that the Fresh Roots program consisted of an organic farming job specifically aimed at teens, I signed up right then. I was the youngest person on the farm, so that helped me to grow up and mature and enabled me to work with and talk to people who were older than me. I adjusted fine, and I would consider every one of those other teens friends now. In addition to being a farmer, I joined a video editor position with 2 other teens and learned the basics of shooting and editing video. At the end of that season, I had changed so much. I was able to open up to people more and was much more mature. Now, for the 2008 Fresh Roots Season, I am the Youth Video Coordinator, and I am responsible for documenting the season by means of shooting and editing footage, as well as managing this blog.
