| Introduction | Born and brought up in Asansol, a small town in West Bengal, eversince my school days I had been into some form of art or the other like most Bengalis - be it music or painting. I remember always being fascinated with clicking photographs. With very little time once I started working, photography not only provided a great alternative to painting, but also took me far from the madding crowd. It helped me explore new places and especially to know some great people I would have never met otherwise. Initially, I had a Kodak KB 10 and then moved onto a KB12. Finally, after a couple of years of working, I purchased my own Canon SX100IS and used it for 2 years to learn the basics of aperture, shutter speed and frame. And soon I bought my first DSLR Canon 1000D. And now I have graduated to the Canon 7D, my most prized possession. Having said that about the gear that I have, I believe the most important quality of a photograph, as in all work of art, is to evoke an emotional response. While everything in nature does this for me, selecting just the right places and moments to make a photograph that convey those emotions is important and difficult, as well. |
