| Introduction | Hello guys. I am first and foremost a car guy. Im not an environmentalist, a tree hugger or even a conservationist. So how did I get so interested in electric cars? It all started with a movie called "Who Killed The Electric Car" I watched the movie a few times and was so upset that these EV1's were crushed and i never even saw one. I was always under the impression that electric cars were slow and didn't go far enough. Soon after as I was researching electric cars on the internet, I found components for sale to convert my 91 Geo Metro. I received all of my parts by January 2008 and I went to work. My Dad was actually my motivation, he said there was no way the car i was about to build was ever gonna go above 25 mph or go further than a few miles. On April 1st, i drove the car the 14 miles to my house at speeds between 45-50 mph. Needless to say, My Dad was impressed. In the end, I spent about three thousand dollars and did all the labor myself. I joined the local electric car club and brought my new electric car to many shows. Then in November 2008, i found out about the MINI E program. I picked up my 2008 MINI E #466 on June 18th 2009 and thats where this journey begins. |
