| Introduction | Zola McDaniel was a freelance writer at The Rocket Magazine in Seattle during the 1990s. In 2024, she asked Charles R. Cross, former Editor in Chief to copy edit the rough draft. What followed became a masterclass in spare writing and Seattle history. Unfortunately, Charles passed away before it was finished. The project stalled while she found a new editor. Gillian G.
