Introduction Welcome, Dear Ones! I'm a sentimental dreamer, a hopeful romantic, a 'poetic historian', and an amature naturalist. I create expressive adornments, blending my love of art, literature, history and the natural sciences into unique nouveau heirlooms.
InterestsAncient cultures; museums; libraries; the dark and macabre; live music -- opera; musty, hard-bound books; anatomy; art and cultural history; hand-crafted jewelry; costuming; sculpture; mixed media design; unusual and exotic food; traveling; wildlife and conservation; nuns; dance; British comedies; passion; expansion of the mind -- I enjoy variety and love to learn something new each day.
Favorite moviesAn avid fan of foreign films and indies -- The Magdalene Sisters, Happy Times, House of Fools, The Road Home, The Sea is Watching, Together, The Way Home, The King of Masks, Breaking the Waves -- Napoleon Dynamite, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Tumbleweeds, Brokeback Mountain, Clockwatchers... the list is endless. I am also a documentary addict. Cinemania, The Jaundiced Eye, The Farmer's Wife, My Flesh and Blood, and my favorite -- Spellbound.
Favorite musicMy musical tastes are eclectic in nature; I have music playing in the studio daily -- opera, opera, opera! It inspires, it uplifts, it is my muse. Mario del Monaco (the Errol Flynn of opera), Andrea Bocelli, Wagner, Mozart, classical and instrumental, Unto Ashes, Rasputina, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rammstein, Type O Negative, Rob Zombie, Danzig, My Dying Bride, Claire Voyant, The Gathering... I am out of touch with today's pop culture reality and haven't the slightest clue who might be 'topping the pop 40 charts' at this moment in time. I am always on the hunt for new and intriguing musical selections and would be pleased to receive any recommendations one might have to offer.
Favorite booksNon-fiction (research, research, research)! 'How-To' books, art, cultural history. Royal Babylon, Jane Austen and all things Victorian, The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce, The Lives of the Mayfair Witches, The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony, Grimm's Tales, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, The Bronte Sisters, Dante, Chaucer, and many other guilty pleasures. I also listen to unabridged audio books in my studio EVERY DAY.
