| Introduction | Phil is a retired educator, fulfilling many roles in his 38 years of public school experience. His educational experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, principal, parent educator, and a central office administrator. For almost 53 years he has been married to his wife, Becky. Their family includes two sons, thier wives and four grandsons, ages 18, 16, 7, 5 and a special granddaughter born August 27, 2013. Phil has always had an appreciation for the natural world. He and Becky have camped and traveled throughout the 48 continental states and visited in all 50 states. After retirement, he remained busy with a short career in real estate and served a four-year term as a county commissioner in his home county. He worships regularly at his church in Jefferson City, TN where he has been a deacon and served on various church committees. He still enjoys the outdoors with day hikes, tending his yard, flowers and maintaining his three fish ponds. |
| Interests | Observing human behavior, a little yard work, hiking, travel, photography, watching the grandkids grow and learn, observing wildlife, volunteering at a local thrift store, the County Archives, and serving as a docent at an 1868 Victorian house museum. |
| Favorite movies | October Sky and a few others, but not many I'd call favorites these days. |
