Introduction | Hailing from a long line of jack of all trade types, I have a mixed European heritage: Irish, English, Scottish, German, and a Micmac Grandfather on my Father's side. The most memorable moments of my childhood come from living in Norris Point, Newfoundland. I had little formal support to pursue academic studies, so for the first 10 years of my adult life, I worked in various jobs, where I was able to apprentice as a chef, focusing on vegetarian cuisine. At 30 yrs of age, I decided I needed to attend university, where I took my Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Anthropology, and a Master's Degree in Environment and Sustainability. I have not ruled out doing a Ph.D yet, but after 6 years of formal study, I really want to get back into the work world where I can make a difference. I am interested in food sustainability, food skills, seeding saving, and localism (the re-development and reclamation of local skills and community resiliency). |
