Introduction Soli Deo Gloria is one of the five "Solas" of the 16th century reformation. I first encountered it in Donna Waln's kitchen in December 2006 when our family became honorary Walns for the ten weeks surrounding my Dad's heavenly homegoing. As I enjoyed food, fellowship, and comfort in that hospitable kitchen, my eyes often returned to those strange three Latin words. I have not studied Latin, but I know enough of romance languages to understand Only God Glory. Exactly how they were to be put together, I contemplated: --For God alone the Glory --Glory to God Alone --Only God gets the Glory almost endless possibilities. Then I learned it was also the epitaph for Dick Morgan, a friend and former missionary to Mozambique who is buried in the same Lincoln Veteran's cemetery as Dad. It has brought me much food for thought and I was delighted to discover in reading a biography of Martin Luther that "Soli Deo Gloria" was practically the guiding light and foundation of Reformed thought. It continues to challenge my thinking and meditation. BTW: the other four are: Sola Scriptura, Solus Christus, Sola Gratia and Sola Fida.
