About me

LocationNew York, NY
IntroductionFor 10 years I have been covering environmental stories as a documentary filmmaker, radio news producer and reporter. I’ve covered everything from the catastrophe of Love Canal to the proposed catastrophe that fracking for natural gas in New York's pristine landscape and watershed would bring. Because of this knowledge, experience, and sensitivity- when I found myself working in a typical New York restaurant it hit me how much energy, and water restaurants waste and how much garbage they produce. I began to ask if there was a way to make restaurants better stewards of the environment and the idea was born. I want to create a nonprofit organization that will help restaurants become more sustainable. My background as a working artist, an entrepreneur, a gardner and the grand-daughter of farmers gives me insight into how intricate systems work. My educational background in Liberal Arts and Landscape Architecture with a Masters in Anthropology and Media Study have prepared me for a multi-pronged endeavor like founding a non-profit. But I certainly can't do it alone and I'm so glad to have real partners in this project.
