Introduction I have a B.A. in history from Tulane University and an M.A. in Human Resources Development from Webster University. I am contributing editor and featured columnist for SEGULA, a magazine devoted to Jewish history and culture published in Israel. I have taught Bar Mitzvah and high school age students. For five years, I have led the weekly adult education class at Temple Judah. For two years, we studied the weekly Torah and Haftarah readings. We then moved on to a study of the History of Jewish Civilization starting with Joshua. This year we have studied the rise and fall of the Polish Jewish Community prior to the French Revolution. We are examining the rise and impact of Sabbati Zvi, the Chasidim, Mittnagdim and the coming of modernity as typified by Moses Mendelsohn. This is the game plan; we may not get there. I am an autodidactic with a life long interest in history and Judaica. My Jewish experiences have covered a wide spectrum from Classical Reform to the Lubavitch. Having spent my adult life in small southern and midwestern towns, I am an example of the teacher who has learned because of and from his students.
