IntroductionI'm reviving my blog after a 9-year(!) absence. I like to sew clothes for myself because RTW clothes are built for the average women, which I am NOT. I am statuesque, with a lower hip circumference of 50+ inches, and nearly 6 feet tall. I own an older Viking serger, graciously gifted to me by the daughters of my deceased elderly neighbor, and a vintage Bernina 1020 that sews straight and zigzag stitches. I love vintage, sold state sewing machines. They are infinitely more repairable than modern electronic machines and nothing about them feels cheap and plastic-like. They also are capable of sewing the most beautiful, perfectly tensioned stitches, which provides me with a great deal of joy and satisfaction. Currently, half of the Bernina's decorative stitches are held hostage because the stitch selection knob is frozen. Despite this shortcoming, I still love her as she is the Rolls Royce of stitching; solid, gorgeous, and a delightfully smooth ride. I have learned to live with fewer choices, you know, as you do in old age. Quality over quantity, baby.
InterestsSewing for myself, teaching others to sew, building a big red camper van called Cherry Bomb(!), camping in Cherry Bomb and taking in some nature, daydreaming about landscaping, walking, home improvements, visiting with friends, photography, traveling with my two BooBoos (a dog and the best man I ever met), and keeping up with my precious little family.
Favorite moviesRight now, my favorite film is Sinners (2025).
Favorite musicAs a child of the 80s, of course I love hair bands, heavy metal, new wave, R&B, a good deal of pop, but my all time favorite from the 80s/90s is PRINCE (rest in peace, you sexy MF'r). After I grew up, I found funk (love those base lines), jazz, blues, Texas roadhouse blues, and other genres I'd need AI to define for me. If I had to say what my favorite music is at this point in my life, I would have to say "live."
Favorite booksBooks? Who has time for books? I just got my first library card after leaving Wyoming over 30 years ago.
