| Introduction | Born in Liverpool and raised in south Sefton, I come from a working-class and quite political family, and I’ve always found myself firmly on the left of the political spectrum. Philosophically, I’m drawn to existentialism and Adlerian psychology. I have a BA (Hons) in Politics, two PGCEs, a TESOL qualification, and a PhD. In a previous life, I was a Royal Navy submariner. These days, I’m an EAL teacher living and working in Da Nang, Vietnam. Outside teaching, I’m a drummer and singer in a band called Incipio, currently on an extended hiatus while I’m teaching abroad. I love travelling, writing, music, and finding out what happens when life doesn’t quite follow the plan. I haven’t blogged properly in years, but apparently I’m doing that again too. |
| Interests | Everton FC, Music, Philosophy, Politics, Theology, WWF (Attitude era), Pokemon (Gen 1), Metal Gear Solid, and much more. |
| Favorite movies | Enemy of the State, Die Hard 1, 2, & 3, The Shawshank Redemption, Shirley Valentine, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction & loads more |
| Favorite music | I am into all sorts of music.. but top bands/ artists: Brand New, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Bowling for Soup, John Lennon, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, New Found Glory, The Used, Newton Faulkner, Atreyu, Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Arctic Monkeys ... I could honestly go on and on all day. |
| Favorite books | I love reading. From struggling with it at a young age to eventually publishing my own book through a university press, it’s been quite a journey. I’ve even accumulated something of a personal library at home. From The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists to The Lord of the Rings, my tastes are pretty varied, and I’ve become a bit of a bibliophile, but, if pushed, I’d still say that Roald Dahl is my favourite author. |
Come up with some possible band names for your group that features a washboard and a styrofoam tuba.
