About me

LocationSan Diego, California, United States
IntroductionMy work explores the interplay of colors and textures. I make unique, beautiful, and fun objects that invite you to touch them.----- The techniques I use are rigorous but can be very spontaneous. What will happen as I make and finish a piece is never fully predictable, and I take advantage of that. I love the meditative qualities of the repetitive processes, the physical engagement with fiber and color, and most of all the surprises.----- I was first drawn to handweaving in the late 1980s, after working in software design and technical writing. My textile repertoire also includes dyeing, embroidery, crochet, and felting, an obsession since 2008.----- While primarily self-taught, I studied fiber art at San Diego Mesa College with Georgia Laris and have taken classes from the late Randall Darwall, Anita Luvera Mayer, Sharon Marcus, Sharon Costello, Ilze Aviks, and Lisa Klakulak. ----- I'm a member of San Diego Creative Weavers (former officer), Textile Study Guild of San Diego, Spanish Village Art Center, and Handweavers Guild of America.
