| Introduction | We retired in the spring/summer of 2010 and took a long vacation for 2010-2011 as our Shakedown & Friends and Family tour. For 2012, 2014, & 2021 summers, we worked at Voyageurs Nat'l Park as volunteers-in-the-park. For 2013 we traveled up the west coast of California & Oregon. We visited the Midwest for the summer of 2015 and again in 2016 with a visit to Isle Royale Natl Park. For 2017 we headed back to the north shore of Lake Superior. For 2018, 2019 & 2021 summers, we worked our way west where we spent the summers volunteering at the Jackson National Fish Hatchery near Jackson, WY. We winter in Gulf Shores, AL most of the time though we spent the winter of 2012-13 at Naval Base Ventura near Oxnard, CA. We completed a friends, family & bucket list trip for the summer of 2022, returning to Gulf Shores, AL for the winter. For 2023 we visited friends & family before heading west to Jackson, WY for the summer. We spent the last of 2023 in Tucson, AZ. We moved in early 2024 to Yuma, AZ. We'll begin moving north in early spring for summer volunteer positions in Grand Teton Natl Park. |
