| Introduction | I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease five years ago. I have always been active and an avid cyclist and I have not let my diagnosis slow me down. In fact, I have committed myself to staying active and to continuing to challenge myself. I recently completed a solo bike ride across the United States, starting in Portland, Oregon and finishing in Boston, Massachusetts. I am also currently a patient in a Cleveland Clinic study to assess the effect of bicycling on PD symptoms. A little more about me -- I am the founder and president of Adelsys Inc., a third party biomedical service group. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. I am a registered professional engineer and hold several patents. I am the author of many engineering and medical related articles, including one about Parkinson's Disease published in the March, 2010 issue of Medical Design News. I am a graduate of the Clinical Research Learning Institute, an offshoot of the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and adventures with you on this Blog. |
