About me

Location Ungaran Barat Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia
Introduction MI Ma’arif Keji is a formal Islamic school which was founded in 1973. It was built in a rural area on the Ungaran mountainside In Central Java Indonesia. 99% of the population is Muslim and the majority come from poor communities. A difficult time for this school took place betwen 2003-2005, the school was comprised of only 6 classrooms, each 5x6 meters. There  was also a teachers' room measuring 3x4 meters. The rooms were cracked and the building was old. Because the school only had 58 students, the public was not interested in sending their children to study at MI Keji. Because of this, the school nearly closed. Armed with the spirit of struggle and prayer of all teachers, management and the community leaders to keep this Islamic school, the school was  gradually improved and renovated for the better. Indicators of the improvments can be seen in the newly renovated school itself, student achievement, both in academics and non academics. In 2010, MI Keji obtained the Accreditation of A with a value of 89 from the National Accreditation Board (BAN-S/M).
