| Introduction | Greedy ultrarunner not given to speed despite outward appearance, 50 not far over the horizon, possibly wearing out and PBs tailing off; just four so far in 2011, and two of those were 5ks on consecutive weekends! :-) Inspired by Ffyona Campbell's round-the-world walking exploits, I started out as a walker in 1996. My first challenge event was the 56-mile Bullock Smithy Hike in Sept 1996. That first ultra took me 20:24 to complete and nearly crippled me, but I was hooked. I moved up to running. I have since completed it in just under 12 hours in 2010. Fifteen years and >140 ultramarathons later, I'm still hooked. This is my belated blog. |
