| Introduction | I am interested in the natural world generally, however my PhD research has focused on seabirds. This research examined aspects of the foraging behaviour, breeding biology and population genetics of a pelagic pan-tropical seabird, the wedge-tailed shearwater (Puffinus pacificus). The overall aim was to examine the possibility that local adaptation to colony specific oceanographic regimes can isolate breeding colonies, and therefore promote speciation. My research addressed important theoretical questions, and has significant management implications. |
