Introduction	NDSEED is a civil engineering service project at the University of Notre Dame. The team has seven members sharing one goal - to build a bridge for a community in need. Throughout the year, the team will fund and design the bridge, and then go work on the physical construction of the bridge for the better part of Summer 2012. The team will be building a bridge over a river in San Francisco, Nicaragua. The site provides several engineering challenges due to its flat terrain, which make erosion control a chief concern. Once in place, the bridge will serve 500 families who are currently completely isolated from outside help during the floods which accompany each rainy season.
