| Introduction | My father was a small town country doctor. I grew up carrying his black bag on housecalls, and am now an Orthopaedic Surgeon. During my lifetime I have seen the takeover of our once free market medical care by the federal government, to the great detriment of Medicine. Ronald Reagan famously observed, “When government is the problem, more government is not the answer.” Much of the planning of the takeover of Medicine and the voices you hear are non-physicians, or physicians who work in federally funded universities and/ or research institutions and are themselves recipients of government largess. They are also protected from the terrible economic reality they bring about. These articles show the effects of government on private physicians and the patients they serve. Vladimir Lenin once wrote, “Medicine is the keystone in the arch of socialism”.
