Introduction	I was a troubled young person who had a heart. I made my share of mistakes, perhaps more than my share, but maintained a glimmer of hope and a moral compass that illuminated a path that led me to a life of citizenship and service. Jesus had a lot to do with it, for when I did not love myself, Jesus loved me. Therefore I try to be a loving person--though I'm far from perfect at it.
Interests	My interests are anti-bullying work, music, poetry, politics, my kids and their friends, education, religion, philosophy, nature, my dog, drawing, and chatting with beloved girlfriends.
Favorite movies	Kung Fu Panda, Shreck, Jesus Christ Super Star, any Winnie the Poo, the very first Land Before Time, Robin Hood Men in Tights, Jungle Book, Secret Garden, Mouse Hunt, as well as various other fun movies. I'm not big on drama.
Favorite music	Pink Floyed, Moody Blues, Natalie Merchant, Suzanne Vega, Bob Marley, Supertramp, Peter Gabrial, Various 60s protest songs, Traffic, Eagles, Robbie Roberson, and my sons' compositions that are more amazing than anything I have ever heard. You'll hear from them some day.
Favorite books	#1 Mark Twain's "The War Prayer", Fredrick Douglass' Narrative of a Slave, To Kill a Mockingbird, Oedipus, Hamlet, The Red Tent, Holographic Universe, The Infinite Potential, The Bible-The New Testament, The Pedagogy of Oppressed, The Prince, Silent Spring, and anything by Leo Bescaglia

Which do you prefer and why: whittling with soap or whistling with wood?

Whittling with soap, because it is very much like my profession. As a teacher, we are shaping the minds of young people and must be extremely careful, for our students are soft and easily dented in a way that could impact them for years. At the same time, with only a bit of loving effort we could tenderly shape them in ways that would help to guide them for several years to come.
