IntroductionHi, I’m Kara! 💛 My name is Kara Farr, and this is my twelfth year teaching students receiving special education services—but my journey into special education began long before I entered the classroom. In 2013, while visiting my daughter’s school each day for her g-tube feedings, her teacher told me about Project ASD at UCF. I enrolled in 2015, and that decision changed the direction of my life. Before becoming a teacher, I was a stay-at-home mom supporting my daughter, Abby, who has autism. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Public and Cultural Communication with a minor in Spanish from USF, never realizing how naturally those skills would later connect to my work as an educator. While balancing motherhood and teaching, I earned my master’s degree in Special Education with an Autism endorsement in 2017. My passion for supporting and advocating for students eventually brought me to Orange County Public Schools and, two years ago, to Arbor Ridge School, where I found my professional home. Today, I teach students in kindergarten through third grade in a separate ESE classroom, supporting a wide range of academic, behavioral, communication, and individual learning needs.
