Introduction My angling career started in 1956 at the age of 12, catching gudgeon and small roach from the Warwickshire Leam, only a few miles from my home in Coventry. After three years catching small fish, I received a copy of Dick Walker's classic 'Still Water Angling' for my fifteenth birthday in 1959. That book changed my entire approach to fishing. Within a season, my specimen hunting career was well under way. My writing career, with essential encouragement from Dick Walker, commenced in 1967 when Angling Times published my first article, on small stream perch. I have been writing regularly for the angling press ever since, and have contributed around 800 articles to both the monthly and weekly titles. At present, I write every month for Coarse Fisherman and Coarse Angling Today magazines, as well as occasional features for the specialist magazines devoted to carp and predator fishing. I fulfilled a lifetime dream of having a book published in 1987 when Ironbridge Publications released ‘Silver Seasons-Golden Memories' , quickly followed a year later by 'My Way with Chub'. Those first two books opened the floodgates on an enjoyable writing career.
