| Introduction | Some would say I am headed in the wrong direction. Moved from a big city to a small town, left a full-time job for two part-time jobs, white collar to blue collar...but that hasn't changed my passion for many things! Wine being one of those. When I began earning a significant income, I decided to travel and so I went all over the world and tasted wines in every country I visited. Now I have the priveledge of living in the midwest on the banks of the Mississippi in a beautiful historic town called Dubuque. The land here is blessed with bluffs, hills and soil that is perfect for growing many French grapes. Our vineyards go back almost 40 years, but have really sprung up in the past 20 as the upper Mississippi valley became the largest American Viticultural Area (29,949 sq. miles) larger by far than California, Oregon and Washington states' areas. I had no idea when I moved here that I had a river of liquid gold in my own backyard! I have been dicovering that our wines are as wonderful as anything I have ever tasted in Europe, Sonoma, Napa or Washington state. I look forward to visiting all the local vineyards as time permits and so also to continue my travels. |
