Introduction | I’m Marisa Wikramanayake. I am a freelance journalist and editor (also known as a word wrangler). I started my journalism career as a weekly columnist for the Sunday Leader writing on politics and popular culture for four years for a readership of 100,000. Since then I have written for Science Network WA, RTR FM, Blogcritics and Specusphere on science, technology, the environment, music, games and books. In my spare time I write novels (my first book was published at 17) and work in handling media and PR, organising and event photography for major events like the Galle Literary Festival and the National IPEd Editing Conference. I have blogged since 1998 and continue to do so on travel, freelancing, writing on this site and occasionally on science. As an editor, my clients have included Diabetes WA, the Centre for Policy Development and Dorian Gray Pictures. I have a BA in English Literature and Geography, an Honours thesis on Archaeology (languishing on a library shelf) and a Master of Communications in Science Journalism. |
