| Introduction | Like a lot of Marbleheaders I was born in Salem. I had no choice, but I claim dual citizenship like my ancestors Philip English and Sara Ingersoll. Philip did time in the Salem Jail for refusing to pay taxes to the congregational church in Salem. He was a member of the Anglican church in Marblehead. He told the court that freedom of religion did not exist in the colony. It could not if he had to pay taxes to one church while belonging to another. Like most people in my family, Philip and I share a common trait through our natural ability to get into trouble. But we don't give up. Philip and his first wife, Mary Hollingworth, were accused of witchcraft. They were arrested and taken to Boston where they escaped before their trial. Mary did not make it home, and that's where Sara came in. Then Jean and Marie. Then Jean-Baptiste and Marie Josephte. Then Louise and Charles. Then Louis-Marie and Josephte. Then Apolline and Godfair. Then Hurbain and Clarisse. Then Armand and Genevieve. Then Paul and Dorothée. Then me, Elektronika. |
