About me

LocationPatagonia, Argentina
IntroductionWe are two retired travel agents exploring Patagonia during each summer (Northern Hemisphere winter) with our yellow Labrador retriever, Lucas. During the last 9 years summers we have logged over 35,000 miles on the paved Pan American Highway, the infamous unpaved Carretera Austral of southern Chile and Ruta 40 of Argentina, as well as on unmapped, 100-year old settler cart paths. We are both linguistically challenged each with rudimentary Spanish skills. As avid fly fishermen, hikers, and adventure seekers who like our creature comforts, good food and mid-priced wines, our travels have often been challenging but also rewarding beyond our wildest expectations. Diane is a great navigator, schmoozer, and photographer who usually catches the largest fish; Dick drives with constant diligence, is an improvisational cook and is the scribe for our adventures. Lucas, a constant source of amusement, is also a certified therapy dog and a wonderfully eager upland hunting dog. Our blog allows us to share with others our experiences and observations in this wonderful region called Patagonia. Please pass our url along to other interested or like-minded souls.
