| Introduction | My name is Jaclyn and I am the Mazel Muncher! I love to cook and I love to eat. When I come home from work the number one thing I want to do is get in my kitchen and make something that gives my house a delicious scent, and also that tastes delicious! Getting home late from work leaves me with few options sometimes to make an elaborate meal, but I always love to take a bit of time out of the day to make something from scratch. The most comforting foods to me are those that remind me of my grandmothers Eastern European Jewish cooking, and the recipes I grew up with. These are the recipes that I first learned and made me comfortable in a kitchen. That being said I love to experiment and add new ingredients to these old recipes. Sometimes it can also be hard to find ingredients like schmaltz (chicken fat) in your local San Francisco corner store, so I try and make easier found substitutions where I can. I am also inspired my the foods of the middle east. Each time I travel to Israel to visit family I come back inspired with new things to cook. While not all of my recipes may be traditional, I try and follow kosher principals in my home cooking. I hope you enjoy! |
