| Introduction | This blog is a record of our family's story. We live in Massachusetts and I am a wife and mom to two beautiful girls. Our younger daughter, Keira, was diagnosed with a moderate to severe hearing loss when she was 5 weeks old. By 12 weeks of age her hearing loss had progressed to a severe to profound loss. In other words, she is now legally deaf. We recently learned her hearing loss is caused by the Connexin 26 gene disorder. Keira is going to get bilateral cochlear implants before her 1st birthday. Our older daughter, Mia, has normal hearing. I started this blog so we can remember this intense time and to update family and friends on the lives of the sweet little McNally girls. Eventually I hope this blog will serve as an inspiration to other newly diagnosed families who hear the life changing words, "your child has a hearing loss." |
