Introduction I exhibit all of the worst characteristics of my German/Scottish/Irish ancestry. I grew up in Alberta during the Great depression and WW II. I left home to go to high school when I was 14. I was given a teaching certificate after one year of university in Education at the University of Alberta. My first teaching assignment was a one room country school with about 32 pupils in grades one through nine. Three years later I left teaching to try other occupations. I was a bill collector for a year. I worked on power line construction. For a few years I worked on seismograph exploration. I have been an industrial instrumentation technician in gas plants and pulp and paper mills. In 1971 I returned to university (Simon Fraser University) and got a BA with majors in History and Geography. Then I went back to teaching for a few more years. I have also been a farmer, an ultralight aircraft flight instructor, a part time librarian, a project manager on the construction of a community water system, a bookkeeper at a radio station, and a volunteer firefighter. I like a little variety in my life. Strangely enough, I have been married to one woman for nearly 62 years.

In the dream where you show up to school naked, why do you never go swimming?
