| Introduction | Here is a story that will illustrate where my heart is when it comes to orphans all over the world... Remember the story of the Starfish? It goes something like this: After a fierce storm had hit the coast, I strolled to the beach for a walk. There I saw tens of thousands of starfish washed up onto the beach. I was saddened when I realized they would all die. There was nothing I could do, so I sat down and put my head in my hands. In a distance I saw a child bending down, standing up, bending down and standing up again. I yelled "What are you doing?" The little voice called back to me "Saving the starfish." I scrunched my eyebrows and replied back to the voice "But don't you see that there are tens of thousand's of them? Nothing you do will make a difference." The little voice did not answer me, but instead bend down again and picked up another starfish, casting it back into the water. Then, he walked closer to me and smiled "It made a difference for that one." |
