| Introduction | Washing Day was the first day of the week according to Edna who was my grandmother. It was the day to start afresh, get going and get it done! Get it done she did and her legacy is still with me today. Getting things done could also be a lot of fun. This blog is all about my washing days! Here I am at that brickwall in life where you climb it or slam right into it! I aim to climb that brick wall and need to wind back, stop working like a steam engine on the wrong track and start enjoying my life. Taking time to be in my studio, garden or kitchen instead of in the office. Helping me is the memory of Edna, who never thought anything was too hard to achieve. She would start ever week with wash day the copper would be lit, the cows milked, the clothes boiled and the linen starched and in all of this she still found time for me. Her sayings and her waste not want not attitude rings in my ears as I try to make the changes towards a life without the drags of the office and learn to live on less as she did. I want to record her recipes her sayings and some of her life amongst my day to day chatter. |
