| Introduction | I hold an Extra Class license. Most of my on-air time is spent on 20 meters with SSB and PSK/RTTY, although I still enjoy 2 meters during the morning / evening drive to and from work. I've even been known to "work" Austrailia and the UK via Echolink using my HT. My main rig is an ICOM 706MKIIG pushing 100 watts into a Comet CHA250B vertical antenna mounted about 30 feet above ground. I aso have a Comet duel band U/VHF antenna in the attic out of harm's way. On the digital side of things, I'm using a RigBlaster Pro connected to a Dell Latitude D520 1.6 gHz laptop. I'm using Digital Master 780, part of the Ham Radio Deluxe suite, to operate PSK31 and RTTY. My backup rig is a Kenwood 440S. With 100 watts output fed through an antenna switcher it still does a great job of reaching out. |
