Introduction I am a visual artist living and working in the Virgin Islands. I have always lived on an island. Born in Tobago, I have lived in St. Thomas, St. Croix, Manhattan and Cuba. I am interested in things that are provincial and domestic. I used to paint figures and symbols. While living in Havana I started throwing parties on buses, asking neighbors to exchange objects and making animations of the figurines on their living room tables. Since moving back to St. Croix, I have begun making cut-out books, videos of Danish castles and paintings about colonial pottery. I am currently working on a the monument "I Am Queen Mary" and researching the impact of Virgin Islanders in the Harlem Renaissance as part of a two year fellowship at the Social Justice Institute at the Barnard Center for Research on Women. I am also writing a book entitled, "Ledgers From a Lost Kingdom".
