Introduction Currently teaching music therapy at Southern Methodist University, I am a board certified music therapist with over a decade of experience in using specially developed music protocols to improve the well being of all ages. Much of this work has been done in the public schools as I was the director of a music therapy company. I have given presentations at national, regional and local conferences in the areas of using music and technology, music therapy in the educational setting and music to help in reducing stress. I am also certified in the Health Rhythms drumming protocol that has been shown to significantly increase the production of specific immune system cells. In addition, I have conducted research in using music and relaxation to reduce the anxiety of patients undergoing heart catheterization and pacemaker implantation. Some of my other research projects and interests include using art and music together for therapy in the psychiatric setting and using group drumming to improve mood states. I really hope you enjoy the posts here at Music Makes Sense and invite you to participate in the discussion. Thank you so much for stopping by!
