About me

Location Oakland, CA
Introduction I've been a crafty girl since birth. I've dabbled in ceramics, embroidery, felt, sewing, crocheting, knitting, aromatherapy and candle making. I love art that expresses resistance to injustice, culture jamming, as well as sacred art. I am, of course, also a sucker for art that simply makes me smile and feel good. As I get older, having studied how the markets/capitalism really work in grad school, I have become more and more committed to not buying gifts for people. I prefer creating something that comes from my heart and conveys how much I love them. It’s a way of sharing something of me with people when I want to celebrate them for a special occasion. I think handmade gifts are more meaningful and, in a small way, can begin to change our marketplace, turning us toward more local, sustainable and profound gifting and sharing within our communities. This blog is my effort to share my continuing exploration of crafty endeavors and creating social change through beauty, culture and craft. Enjoy!
